Parental Employability and Intensive Family Support

The Scottish Borders' Parental Employability and Intensive Family Support project is part of the Edinburgh and South East Scotland Intensive Family Support Service.

The Parental Employability and Intensive Family Support Service is delivered by Scottish Borders Council, and works in alignment with the Parental Employment Support Fund team to offer a Scottish Borders wide service to vulnerable families.

The PES service takes a targeted approach, focusing on families with one or more of the following barriers:

a) young parent families (parent/s under 25)

b) parents with poor literacy and numeracy skills

c) high-risk families where there is evidence of intergenerational poverty

d) Families will live in rural areas with poor transport links.

Family Support Workers work with families to provide support and advice to help make positive changes in their lives through learning, training, employment, education or volunteering. The team also aim to help increase household income and provide emotional support to families.
